• Welcome, Pastor Schulz.

    Pastor Stewart Schulz serves as interim pastor to Word of Life until our new, permanent pastor is installed.  He was educated at Concordia JC, Austin TX; Concordia Senior College, Ft. Wayne, IN; Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO; Princeton Seminary, NJ;  and University of Colorado, Boulder, with additional study at Westfield House/Cambridge University, Cambridge, England.

    He served ministries in New Jersey, Missouri, Colorado, Indiana, and Illinois.  He is rostered as emeritus in the Northern Illinois District and, since retirement, has served intentional ministries in Kettering and Galena, Ohio and Lafayette, Indiana as well as vacancy ministries in Chicago and Huntley, Illinois.

    Pastor Schluz is or has been involved at the District and Synodical levels as circuit counselor; Pastor-in-residence, Concordia Seminary, St.  Louis; guest instructor in New Testament, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis; PALS mentor, NID District; synod convention delegate 3 or 4 times; and writer for Creative Worship for about seven years.

    Pastor Schulz has been married to Melinda, a retired public school teacher, for 38 years. They have three grown children and enjoy spending time with, and money on, five grand-daughters.  Pastor’s hobbies include fishing, gardening, travel, and currently restoring two vintage automobiles. 

    He says: “ I value worship that is energetic, whether that is historical/liturgical or more “contemporary”.  I aspire to preach in a way that is engaging, memorable, and recognizably Lutheran.”

    My name is Jacqui Grisenthwaite and I am the Director of Word of Life Preschool.  I am proud to work for a school that believes a quality early childhood education is key to buidling confident learners that can continue to be successful students throughout their childhood.  God has blessed me in many ways and I am prepared to do His work  through Word of Life Preschool.
